October 12, 1612 [at Harbour Grace]
In the mean time [we] did bring the bank ship a shore, land the salte vpon the highest part of the ground thereabouts, putting it up in a round heap, & burning of it to preserve it. Two anchors & two old junks we lefte vpon the beach. The quantity of salt was about fifteen tonnes.
