| November 17, 1612 [at sea]
It was a fog and we could not see above a mile from us until noone. We went S.S.W. & then, being desirous to get near the land to make it, to be sure where we were, we went N.W. & were within hearing of the rut of the shore before we could see it, and presently it pleased God to send us a clear, the wind WNW, & then we found our selves something to the southward of Renoose.
